It was an extremely tough weekend for me in the Carrera Cup Asia. We failed to nail down a strong and consistent setup all weekend long which resulted in a 4th and 5th place finish in rounds 7 and 8 of the championship.

I qualified the car for Team Jebsen in 4th place for the start of Saturday’s race. I gave it a good effort during qualifying but it just didn't go smoothly in any way.. I left the qualifying session quite frustrated...something that usually doesn't happen too often..

In race 1, I got off the line pretty well but not quick enough to overtake Sugden who was running in 3rd place. I attacked hard at the beginning but he defended and I wasn’t able to gain the position. Although I had the pace to run with the leaders, I couldn’t find my way past and I was right on his bumper for the entire race. I tried to give it a shot to pass him in the closing laps of the race, but the passing line was very dirty and I couldn’t make it stick. I had to settle for a 4th place finish.

In race 2 today, starting from 4th place again, I had a better start off the line and was able to grab 3rd into turn 1. I was able to run with the leaders of the race for the initial half of the race, but I began to lose a lot of grip and my car was oversteering quite a lot. My pace began to fall off quite a bit giving Sugden and Mikola the chance to reel me in. I gave it a hard fight and was able to hold them off for about 5 laps before Sugden got inside me in turn 5. As he passed me, Mikola followed Sugden through leaving me out in the dirty line.. I had to settle for a 5th place finish..

I’m extremely disappointed with the result as I needed to have a good weekend to close the gap back in the championship. That is how racing is, but I guess you can never be happy with a poor result… I’m going to work hard with the team to evaluate what happened to us this weekend and I’ll be looking to come back strong next month in the street race in Singapore…
