This weekend I'm here in Budapest racing at the Hungaroring for round 5 of the FIA GT Championship.Posted by Administrator
I'm back this weekend in the #61 car sharing a car with my team-mate Marco Holzer.
Free practice started off ok but we were struggling with some handling issues. We worked hard to improve the setup over the two free practice sessions and managed to find a decent balance before my qualifying session. Although ultimate pace is always a goal, we spent most our effot developing a good race pace so that our car wouldn't have a big drop off through a stint.
In the 15 min qualifying session, I managed to improve my lap time quite drasticly but it just wasn't enough to make a big impact. I was 1 second behind 1st place and 4 tenths away from a top 5 qualifying finish which put us back in 10th position for tomorrows race start.
Unfortunately, our team mates in the #60 Prospeed car had some problems in scrutineering and although they qualified on pole, will start the race from last position on the grid.
Marco and I will have our work cut out for us tomorrow, but there is one thing that I can guarantee and that is I will be pushing extremely hard right from the start of the race. Being aggressive is the only chance we have of getting back up onto the podium.
