It was a great race today and the team put in a fantastic effort to take the overall win in the 12 hour race in Malaysia!

I meant to update more often during the race as there should have been more time between stints, but the race took a turn early on when we experience fuel pickup problems with the GT3 RSR.

After only using 30 litres of fuel, the car strangely began having a fuel surge. By 35 mintues out of the planned 70 minute stints, we were forced to pit to take more fuel on board.

This really made the race difficult as we basically would have to stop twice every hour instead of making 1 stop like the other teams. Therefore, we would basicly lose 2 minutes every hour. This doesn't sound like much, but it is VERY difficult to make this time back up on the track.

Alex Davison and I ended up pushing hard in the middle of the race doing stints back and forth every 35 minutes to try and make up the deficit. Mok Weng Sun also drove terrific during his stints in order to keep the 2nd place finishers behind us. What also added to the victory was the excellent pit stop work by Team PCSR who had to perform twice as many pitstops than planned before the race.

After 6 hours of neck to neck racing and trading leads in the race, the consistency and relentless pace performed by our team took toll on them and we were able to open up a two lap lead! We stayed consistent and as we entered the night portion of the race, we managed to open up a further 2 laps giving us a 4 lap lead.

At the end, Team PCSR managed a brilliant victory after nearly 20 pitstops in the 12 hour race and also set a new record at this race by completing 308 laps on this 5km circuit. I am very happy for the team as they worked so hard to prepare for this race. I gained valuable experience working with the team and I feel very happy with my performance in the race as I had very quick times and at the same time, made no mistakes as we fought our way through the 77 car field.

I will try to add pictures on the website soon, but until then, I'm going to be sleeeeping!! haha.. its 4am right now as the race finished at 12am and after all the podium ceremonies, press conferences, and celebrations, have got us back to the hotel very late!!

I'm going back to Hong Kong tomorrow for a few days before heading over to Spa on Wednesday for the Belgian Grand Prix competing in the Porsche Supercup next week!

Lastly, a big congratulations to two of my best friends, Colin and Amor as they are getting married today!! Unfortunately, I am missing their wedding as I was scheduled to do this race here in Malaysia, but I am very happy for them and can't wait to see their wedding photos!!

Good night!!! =)

Its 10:15am and the race starts in about 90 min. The race will run until 11:45pm tonight!

We arrived here around 8:30am this morning and began with a few practice runs for the driver change. We also did some team photos!

The team is currently finishing their final preparations and everybody is excited for the race. I will be driving in the second stint which will be around noon time at 12pm. Can't wait to get in the car for my first stint.

I will have updates hopefully throughout the day so come back to hear how our race is going!

Some pics below from this morning...

The team did a fantastic job today in the qualifying round to put together an overall pole position result out of nearly 100 cars for the start of the Merdeka 12 hour endurance race.

The qualifying is determined by an average of the best qualifying time of all 3 drivers in the race. Our average time from the 3 drivers was 2:08.5 which turned out to be 2.6 seconds quicker than the 2nd place team, 2:11.1 which were also driving a GT3 RSR.

It was very difficult to put in perfect lap times in the session as there were over 45 cars on the track, but due to great timing by the team, each driver was given at least 2 laps of nearly clear laps in each of the 3 sessions.

Team PCS Racing is excited about this result but at the same time, know that this is merely a small victory for the weekend. The REAL challenge is ahead where we will be faced with 12 hours of hard fought racing ahead. I really look forward to the challenge and the hardest thing will be to keep a good pace while fighting through the traffic, and also ensuring the team makes good pit stops and driver changes. The car is in great shape and ready for battle tomorrow.

In Malaysia and ready to race!

So here I am in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the Merdeka 12 hours of Sepang! I went by Hong Kong for 1 night to switch racing suits and clothes before flying to KL.

I arrived here on Tuesday around 1230pm and by 2pm, was in the race car for my first practice of the week in the teams new GT3 RSR. The Team PCSR car looks absolutely gorgeous as it is painted in a new chrome colour similar to the Mclaren F1 cars. Check out the pics below!

We finished off practice on Tuesday with a night stint at the Sepang circuit. I feel very comfortable in the car as it is very easy to adjust to from my usual GT3 Cup Car I compete with in the Supercup.

I would have to say that the only thing that I need to adjust to is the fact the car has more aerodynamic grip than the Cup car so I have to build confidence in the car in the high speed bends. This car also has alot more horsepower so that takes a little getting used to as well.

The team is extremely prepared for this race and I would have to say that we are looking for nothing else than the overall win in this race. My co-drivers will be Alex Davison of Australia and Mok Weng Sun of Malaysia. I believe there will be 77 cars at the start of this race and getting through the traffic safe and quickly will be one of the key factors in this race.

On Thursday, we will have some final practice laps before heading into qualifying on Saturday. Qualifying is quite interesting as the our position is not just decided by 1 single fastest lap, but it will be determined by and aggregate time from all 3 drivers.

Our first task will be to put ourselves in a good position for the race, and after will we then turn our attention over to Saturdays race start.

I better get to sleep now, tomorrow we will practice driver changes and pit stops in the morning before getting into the car for our final practice sessions in the afternooon. Stay updated here throughout the weekend!

BTW, the pictures don't do justice as to how nice this car actually looks in person!!

We ended up in 17th position today after a spin on the first lap. The problems started for me at the start of the race, I didn't get off the line well today which allowed 2 cars to overtake me.

As I followed behind my team mate Jorg Hardt, my brakes weren't as warm as I expected them to be and in the second heavy braking zone, I came extremely close to Hardt in front of me and had to push the brakes harder to avoid hitting him. This caused me to lock the tires and spin.

Its disappointing as my team, LKM Schnabl Engineering gave me a fantastic car this weekend. We have made great strides in the setup of the car over the past month and we proved it by qualifying 5th and 6th. In the race, my team mate Hardt stormed throught the field to finish in 2nd position and also setting the fastest lap of the race. My fastest lap was 0.12 tenths behind him setting the 3rd quickest lap of the race. That proves we had the pace, but I will have to avoid making errors like this in order to finish with a good result!

I'm overall still happy for the weekend and I hope we can carry this momentum over to the race in Spa which is in 2 weeks time.

At the moment, I'm at the airport in London waiting for my flight back to Hong Kong. I had to leave immediately after my race in Valencia to drive over to Madrid to catch my first flight. I land in Hong Kong tomorrow afternoon but after 1 night at home, have to head out the next morning to Kuala Lumpur as I have a night practice in the '08 GT3 RSR on Tuesday night.

The practice will lead up to my first endurance race of the season which will be this coming weekend. I will be competing for Team Porsche Club Singapore in the RSR co-driving with Alex Davison of Australia and the team principle, Weng Mok Soon in this 12 hour race. Should be lots of fun!

I will have many more updates about this race throughout the week here on my blog and hopefully I will be able to give you all live updates during the actual race in Malaysia. Stay tuned!!
