DARRYL LOOKS TO DEFEND INDEPENDENTS CHAMPION IN BRNO
BRNO MARKS START OF INTENSE WTCC RUN OF EIGHT ROUNDS IN SIX WEEKS

(16 June 2011, Hong Kong, China) The time is now. With four races and eight rounds in six weeks’ time, the 2011 WTCC season hits the most critical time of the year, and Darryl O’Young is looking to make the most out of the busy schedule to stack up more points, and rise further up the table.

"We are hitting the busiest time of the year with a WTCC race every two weeks before the summer break in August.  This is a very critical time of the year and scoring points will be vital for the championship,” he said.

Currently fourth in the Yokohama Drivers’ Trophy, and only nine points behind co-leaders Kristian Poulsen and Javier Villa, Darryl is looking to turn things around by emulating his success at Brno from last year.

"Brno is where I had my best WTCC result last season with a win in the independents championships and 6th place overall. I hope to score my second independents victory of the season this weekend,” said the WTCC sophomore.

O’Young and four other drivers powered by the Chevrolet Cruze 1.6T will again be driving with 40 extra kilos as compensation weight. This week’s races mark the 9th and 10th rounds of the season. It is a traditional meeting here at the 5.4 kilometers Brno Circuit, as WTCC had been visiting Brno every year since 2006. The circuit is also home to the MotoGP Grand Prix.

Sponsors LKM and A-Ha Coffee are the major forces behind Darryl’s pursuit of success in the 2011 FIM World Touring Car Championship, with additional team support coming from Chevrolet.  Please visit www.fiawtcc.com for more WTCC information and www.darryloyoung.com for the latest updates about Darryl.
